Assignments & Manual Entry

An assignment puts one employee into one cycle against one template — it's the thing the engine actually scores. This page covers assigning people, entering the handful of metrics the system can't measure itself, and reading a single employee's scorecard.

????
Managing assignments is manager-only (kpi_matrix_manage). There's no dedicated sidebar page — you work with assignments from the Team Matrix (the Assign Employees button and each row's View). The one exception is the read-only detail, which an employee can open for their own assignment.

Assigning employees to a cycle

From Team Matrix, click Assign Employees. The modal:

FieldTypeNotes
Review Cycledropdownrequiredthe cycle to score in.
Templatedropdownrequiredthe scorecard to use.
Employeesmulti-selectrequiredone or many people — assign a whole team at once.
Reviewerdropdownoptionalwho owns the evaluation (informational on the scorecard).

Click Assign. You'll get a confirmation like “5 Employees assigned successfully.” and the Team Matrix reloads with the new rows (initially with no score, status Pending).

????
Because Employees is a multi-select, the usual pattern is: create the cycle, then assign the entire team in one action. You can always assign more people later while the cycle is still Open.

Manual entries — the metrics the system can't measure

Most metrics compute automatically, but a few need a human value (they carry a Manual badge in the template builder). If your template uses any, you enter them per assignment before calculating.

Open the manual-entry modal for an assignment. For each manual metric you get:

  • the metric label and its unit,
  • a Value box (required) — type the raw value,
  • a Notes box (optional) — record the evidence behind the value.

An info banner reminds you: “Enter scores for manual metrics below. Values will be normalized to the 1–5 scale.” Save shows “N Manual entries saved successfully.”

ℹ️
If an assignment's template has no manual metrics, the modal simply says “No manual metrics configured for this assignment.” — there's nothing to enter, and no Save button.
⚠️
You enter the raw value in the metric's own unit (e.g. a 1–5 satisfaction rating, or a number of training hours) — not a 1–5 score. The engine normalizes it against that metric's thresholds like any automatic value. Enter manual values before you calculate so they're included.

The manual metrics

Task Quality Scoresemi-automatic; falls back to your entry when there's no rework signal.
Ticket Satisfactionaverage requester satisfaction, 1–5.
Skill Coverage Ratio% of the role's required skills covered.
Training Hourshours of professional development.
Training Completion% of assigned training completed.

The assignment detail — one employee's scorecard

Click View (eye) on any Team Matrix row to open the read-only scorecard. This is the richest single-employee view in the module.

Composite Score panel

The big 1–5 number, the coloured rating badge, and a “Calculated: {timestamp}” line — or “Not yet calculated” if the engine hasn't run for this person.

Status & Info

Assignment Status, the Template and Reviewer, and a Data Sufficiency bar — green ≥ 60%, amber below. Low sufficiency = treat the composite as low-confidence.

Category Breakdown

Below the header, one panel per scored category, each a small table of its metrics:

ColumnMeaning
Metricwhich indicator.
Rawthe value before normalization, in its own unit (or “—”).
Scorethe normalized 1–5 score (bold).
Weightthe metric's weight within its category.

This is the “show your work” view — for any composite you can trace it down to each raw input and how it scored. If there are no scores yet it reads “No scores available yet.”

Recalculate (managers)

At the bottom of the detail, managers see a Recalculate button while the assignment is not completed. It re-runs the engine for just this one employee — perfect after you fix a data problem or add a manual entry, without disturbing everyone else in the cycle.

What an employee can see here

????
The detail modal is the only assignment screen a non-manager can reach — and strictly for their own assignment. The module checks ownership before rendering it, so an employee can't open a colleague's scorecard by changing an ID. Employees get no Recalculate button. (Most employees will use the friendlier KPIs profile tab instead.)
????
Where next? Calculate the cycle once everyone's assigned and manual entries are in, or read how a raw value becomes a score.
